Eat a Rainbow and Live Longer

Dr. Tom O’Bryan writes in his book, The Autoimmune Fix, “According to a 2004 meta-analysis reported in the British Medical Journal, you can reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease by 75 percent, increase total life expectancy by 6.6 years, and increase life expectancy free from cardiovascular disease by 9 years when you put a healthy, antioxidant-rich eating plan together”.  My thought is “I want that!”

The study suggests that you would need to eat these foods each day:

  • cold-water fish
  • dark chocolate
  • garlic
  • almonds
  • red wine
  • just under a pound of a variety of fruit and vegetables.

While it might be difficult for most of us to eat all of these foods every day, it’s certainly within our power to eat more of them.  Aim to eat a rainbow of vegetable colors every day, grab a handful of almonds and some dark chocolate for a snack and enjoy some wild caught salmon with garlic  with a nice glass of red wine for dinner. When you think about it that way, it’s pretty simple.

Eat REAL FOOD, live longer, and wake up healthier tomorrow
